Fancy Brownies

Yesterday, out to lunch at Panera, my son and I were noticing how fancy the brownies looked, mostly because they were baked in a round pan, frosted, garnished, and sliced in pie slices. We were invited over to dinner at the neighbor's house, and I had said I would bring a dessert, so I thought I would completely copy the Panera idea and make some fancy brownies. I baked them in a springform pan (easy!), frosted them, and garnished with chopped walnuts. I think it made them taste better! (Although brownies are pretty good any way you slice them.)

The brownie recipe I used was the "more"-ish brownies from Dreena Burton's Everyday Vegan, and the frosting was the chocolate brownie frosting from Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World.

I bet your neighbors thought you were super awesome for bringing in those fancy brownies! They look delicious, and don't worry, your "copying" secret is totally safe with me. :)

Brownies are one of my absolute favorite desserts, but the only vegan brownies I've found that I like are from a box (Cherrybrook Kitchens). I'll have to find Dreena's recipe and give them a try.

After I read this post, I had an intense craving for brownies! I made the brownies from vive le vegan. They aren't nearly as pretty as yours, but they taste great. Thanks for the idea!
